Courtesy Pay FAQs
An occasional overdraft can happen. A payment may be posted before your next deposit, or you may spend more than the available balance in your checking account. PremierOne Credit Union offers Courtesy Pay and Overdraft Protection to provide eligible members with options that may help cover certain transactions when sufficient available funds are not in the account. These services are designed as a convenience for occasional situations, not as a regular source of funds. Each service works differently, and fees, eligibility requirements, and other terms may apply.
What is Courtesy Pay?
Courtesy Pay is a discretionary service that may allow PremierOne Credit Union to pay certain eligible overdrafts when you do not have enough available funds in your checking account. Courtesy Pay may cover eligible:

Courtesy Pay is not a loan, and having Courtesy Pay does not guarantee that we will pay an overdraft.
What is my Courtesy Pay Limit?
Eligible members may have a Courtesy Pay limit of up to $1,000 per checking account, subject to program requirements and account eligibility.
Each checking account is covered separately, and Courtesy Pay limits cannot be combined between checking accounts.
Your available Courtesy Pay amount may be less than $1,000 based on your account status, existing overdrafts, or other eligibility requirements.

What is the Courtesy Pay Opt-In for ATM and One-Time Debit CArd Transactions?

One-time debit card transactions generally include everyday purchases at places such as:
- Grocery stores
- Restaurants
- Gas stations
- Retail stores
- Online merchants
Your Courtesy Pay Opt-In gives PremierOne your consent to charge an overdraft fee if we pay an eligible ATM withdrawal or one-time debit card transaction through our overdraft service.
Opting in does not guarantee that PremierOne will approve or pay a transaction.
What happens if I do not opt in?
If you do not opt in, PremierOne will not charge you an overdraft fee for paying an ATM withdrawal or one-time debit card transaction through our overdraft service.
The transaction may be declined or may not be paid if sufficient available funds are not available.
Your decision not to opt in does not affect our ability to consider paying eligible checks, ACH transactions, automatic bill payments, or recurring debit card transactions under our applicable policies and criteria.
Can I revoke my Courtesty Pay Opt-In?
Yes. You may revoke your Courtesy Pay Opt-In at any time by contacting PremierOne Credit Union. Your decision to revoke the opt-in applies to the overdraft service for ATM and one-time debit card transactions.
What is Overdraft Protection?
Overdraft Protection is a separate service from Courtesy Pay. If you establish Overdraft Protection, we may use an available Overdraft Protection option before using Courtesy Pay, when available and applicable. Available options may include:
- A transfer from an eligible Savings Account
- A transfer from an eligible Money Market Account
- A transfer from an eligible PremierOne Credit Union Visa Credit Card
Overdraft Protection is subject to available funds, applicable transfer limits, and the terms of the account or credit product.
Is there a fee for Overdraft Transfer?
PremierOne does not charge a transfer fee when funds are transferred from an eligible Savings Account or Money Market Account to cover an overdraft.
If an eligible Credit Union Visa Credit Card is used, interest begins to accrue immediately according to the terms of the applicable credit card agreement.
What happens if I don't have enough funds for Overdraft Protection?
If sufficient funds are not available, or applicable transfer limits have been reached, the overdraft may not be covered through Overdraft Protection.
The transaction may then be considered for Courtesy Pay, if you are eligible and the transaction qualifies under the Courtesy Pay program.
Neither Overdraft Protection nor Courtesy Pay guarantees that an overdraft will be paid.
How much does Courtesy Pay cost?
Enrollment in the Courtesy Pay Program is free.
If PremierOne pays an eligible overdraft through Courtesy Pay, a $14 overdraft fee may apply, subject to applicable law and the current Fee Schedule.
